Milkweed Melody finished. Oh, the joy of color! 27H x 33W inches Oil Pastels on 140 lb cold pressed premium on WC paper. Has brassy-gold frame painted with an extension of the drawing, frame detail images above. Below: work as it was in progress.

Hi Dad, thanks for commenting. Wow, after 47 years, you’d think a person who’s in love with color would be able to start work on a big white page without fear…it’s very odd! After such a long term of doing mostly B/W pencil drawings and painting only trees, those vibrant colors had me doubtful about pulling this one off. Also, staying accurate and loose at the same time is kind of a mid-brain compromise (and ol’ Lefty still wants a little more organization!) Before giving in to more definition though, the drawing needs some sitting time. It’s taped onto a shelf where I only see it in passing, and that’s a good way to study something when you’re not sure what to do next. Could be there’s nothing more to do.
